The CPD-Accredited Qualification To Practise Thermal Recovery

Thermal Recovery is a clinical field of practice developed by AdvancedCryo, the qualifying body for Thermal Recovery Specialists. It teaches wellness professionals how to think and work clinically in recovery, wellness and longevity.

It covers two core areas:

  1. Clinical foundations: the physiology behind wellness, recovery and injury management, the key drivers and strategies of recovery, and how therapies support these goals and are applied to progress towards real outcomes.
  2. Cold and heat therapies: the full spectrum of thermal therapies, including their responses, applications and guidelines, and how to use them to achieve meaningful clinical outcomes, not just short-term symptom relief or physiological responses.

The Wellness Industry Has an Education Problem

Wellness professionals are investing in expensive equipment, from Cryochambers and Localised Neurocryostimulation devices to infrared and contrast systems, much of it with genuine medical origins. As these therapies moved into wellness spaces, the depth of knowledge behind them didn’t keep pace. Manufacturers teach you to operate their device. That isn’t the same as educating you to practise, and it was never their job. Without it, practitioners are left patching together research into protocols that miss the mark.

These are not passive modalities that deliver results on their own. Real results come from understanding physiology, injuries and conditions, and knowing when and how to apply each therapy within a progressive programme built around the individual in front of you.

That’s the line between an operator and a specialist. An operator runs the equipment. A specialist assesses the client, selects the right modality for the right phase and goal, and builds a structured pathway that integrates the wider approach needed to achieve meaningful outcomes.

Practitioners who deliver outcomes are in demand without relying on equipment marketing.

Why We Developed Thermal Recovery

We’ve seen this gap first-hand. Years of delivering device training across wellness clinics, and partnering with elite sports teams, showed us the same thing every time: excellent equipment, motivated practitioners and an industry-wide absence of real education.

We are independent, so you learn clinical science, not a sales pitch. The curriculum is underpinned by over 350 referenced papers.

What You’ll Gain

Credibility: A CPD-accredited qualification and unique verification ID, proving your training is authentic. Pricing power: equipment is commoditised, expertise isn’t. Position yourself as a specialist, not a spa.

Clinical Knowledge And Skills:

  • Core physiology: inflammatory phases, vascular function, cutaneous receptors, pain relief mechanisms and thermal stress triggers.
  • Injury, recovery and longevity management, treatment planning and progressive programming.
  • Sequencing and dosing based on evidence, not guesswork.
  • Recovery strategies that sell on outcomes, not sessions.

Any Device, Any Setting: Education across Whole Body Cryostimulation, Localised Cryostimulation, cooling (icing), cold compression, cold water immersion, breathing techniques, heat therapy, hot water immersion, sauna use and contrast therapy, applied confidently regardless of device, manufacturer or environment.

Personal Support: A one-to-one tutor session. Before your exam, book a session with your educator to review the course, discuss real client scenarios, get feedback and ask questions. Plus, ongoing support and additional training resources throughout your learning.

Immediate Impact: Concise, high-yield sections you can apply with your very next client.

Anyone can buy the equipment. This qualification is what makes you worth booking. It’s the difference between running a machine and running a practice.
