Recovery is everywhere now. Gyms, chains and community facilities are adding Cryotherapy, red light, cold plunges and compression to their memberships. Prices are dropping and sessions that once cost $100 are bundled into $30 memberships or monthly ‘unlimited use’ packages.
Many operators see this as a pricing problem. We see it as a value problem.
Access To Equipment Shouldn’t Be The Product
The industry is realising that access to equipment on its own offers limited benefit, often just short-term symptom relief. For wellness, injury rehab and recovery, these modalities are one support within a framework, not the key driver of outcomes.
Customers won’t continue to pay $100 a session unless the value is there. That value comes from the modality being part of a plan from a qualified practitioner, such as a physio, strength and conditioning coach, nutritionist or recovery specialist.
What We Have Learn’t Managing Wellness Services At Elite Private Members Clubs
In the UK, we charged $110 (£80) per Cryotherapy session for several years. Cryotherapy was never offered on its own, because that wasn’t where the value was. It wasn’t 3 minutes of cold alone. It was a structured session covering:
- Recovery management.
- Exercise and mobility.
- Tracked progress.
- Accountability.
- Clear goals.
Clients weren’t paying for the chamber or localised Cryo device. They were paying for a service with process and a purpose.
Where The Model Falls Down
Many wellness professionals thought offering access to therapies was easy money. But these modalities are clinical adjuncts, and when they’re sold as standalone services, the race to the bottom is inevitable. If the only difference between you and the business down the street is the price, someone will always undercut you.
Why We Developed Education
Recovery is a clinical field, yet almost no one is trained to practise it. Our courses cover the science in detail, but focus on building clinical practice with thermal modalities and wider approaches, because that’s what matters most to the consumer. That combination of science and clinical practice is what sets us apart. No one else in the wellness industry has worked as a focused educator in this field, to this standard, for this length of time.
If you’re a practitioner, clinic owner or gym operator who wants to move beyond selling access and start delivering outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.
