WHAT IS CRYOSTIMULATION?

‘Cryotherapy is a non-invasive application of extremely low temperatures of cooled air, condensed gas vapours, locally or all around the organism to cool body integuments for a period of time which does not exceed 3 minutes of exposure’

Professor Z. Zagrobelny

  • Cryostimulation is a shock therapy. It involves the application of (extreme) cold temperatures to safely and sufficiently cool the superficial layers of the skin.
  • Optimum target skin temperature is perceived to be at 2°C – 5°C.
  • Cryostimulation triggers a vasomotor response and hormonal release. Interestingly, it works by increasing the body’s temperature through vasodilation, which in turn enhances metabolic activity.
